Maxïmo Park - Our Velocity

Damn was I excited to be going to see these guys in April, then I heard their new single.

I creamed myself.

This is probably the best track they've ever recorded, and their last album (including the "Missing Songs" compilation) was also pretty stunning. The highlight of the track, to be released 19th March, for me comes at around 2:57 on the video above; can you imagine Maxïmo Park live giving that chord sequence all they have? Awesome.

The video (as you can see) features the band playing multiple times in a white room. I'm sure someone somewhere has counted how many times each member appears, but I haven't, and I'm not going to try and find out if anyone has. It seems like a slightly weird concept but I think by the end of the video you can see it fits quite well with the speed and flow of the song, but I can't see any relation to the lyrics .. at all really.

Well I can't think of much more to say about this, I would go on about guitar riffs and driving chords and blah blah, but the song speaks for itself.

Just as a side note, their next album "Our Earthly Pleasures" is due for release on 2nd April, but was leaked on to the torrent networks today.
